Australia has some of the best, most liveable cities in the world. Our cities — regional and metropolitan — are also where most Australians live and where most of our economic output is produced.

As our economy and knowledge-based industries grow, so too do our cities. However, in order to capitalise on this burgeoning opportunity, we need to rethink the way our cities are planned, built and managed today and into the future.

The Smart Cities Plan sets out the Australian Government’s vision for our cities, and its plan for maximising their potential. It includes three pillars: Smart Investment, Smart Policy and Smart Technology. SCS uses technology across these three pillars to improve outcomes across city operations and enhance the services local governments and city councils offer their residents.

Our Smart City services integrates devices and data to drive civic and governance decision-making, and also creates networks of partners among governments, businesses, non-profits, community groups, universities, and hospitals to expand and improve the ability to serve citizens.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has triggered a paradigm shift. It has provided cities with senses and a voice as embedded devices talk to each other, waking up a vast network of otherwise ‘sleeping infrastructure.’

Sylvania Connected Solutions brings smart cities to life. We enable a whole new artificial intelligence platform or ‘brain’ that connects all of the applications and solutions into one large ‘Smart’ neural network. Pilot project

Torrens Road to River Torrens Project (T2T)

This project by The Australian and South Australian Governments will deliver a three-kilometre section of non-stop roadway along one of the busiest sections of the North-South Corridor, significantly reducing congestion and delays. As part of this project Sylvania Connected Solutions will deliver a smart controls system to meet the needs for pedestrian and roadway lighting as well as delivering on the energy efficiency and asset management criteria of the government.
